Brass Lantern Automations

Terms of service

Our terms, in plain words.

Last updated October 16, 2026

These terms apply to every Brass Lantern Automations plan, together with the order form a shop signs when it starts. “We” means Brass Lantern Automations, and “you” means the shop.

1. What we provide

  • Answering. Our AI assistant answers the calls your shop doesn’t pick up, day or night, with your shop’s name and the voice you chose. It asks the questions you set up for your trade, books jobs on your calendar when booking is connected, and takes messages.
  • Urgent calls. Calls you define as urgent ring through to the mobile number on your order form.
  • Call alerts. Once texting is set up and you’ve opted in, you get a text after each call with the details.
  • Website. Unless you chose answering only, we build a website made to get calls: tap-to-call, booking, your services, the towns you cover and your real reviews.
  • Google Business Profile. We’re added as a manager to update your profile. Review requests go out after finished jobs, to every customer, not just the happy ones, and nothing is ever offered in return for a review.
  • A short report of the calls the assistant caught and the jobs it booked.
  • Setup. We set everything up with you in person or by phone. Your answering line and website are ready within 48 hours of signing, and you test the line before it goes live. Google can take a few days to show profile updates.

2. Minutes

  • Your plan includes the minutes on your order form each month. Minutes are the time the assistant spends on your calls. After the assistant hands a call to you, the rest of that call doesn’t count.
  • Calls shorter than 15 seconds, such as hang-ups and robocalls, don’t count.
  • We add up the seconds each month and round up to the next whole minute once, at the end of the month. Unused minutes don’t carry over.
  • If you go over, every call still gets answered, and extra minutes are 30¢ each. If your plan keeps coming up short, we’ll let you know and move you up to the next plan, starting with your next billing period.

3. Fees and billing

  • Setup is $500, one time. The first three founding shops pay no setup fee, in return for letting us share their results.
  • Plans are billed in advance. Monthly and yearly-paid-monthly plans are billed each month, and yearly plans paid up front are billed once a year. The first charge happens when you sign up.
  • Extra minutes are billed after the month ends.
  • Payments go through Stripe, by card or bank account. You can update your payment method and see your invoices in our customer portal.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again. If it’s still unpaid 14 days after we let you know, we may pause the service until it’s paid. We’ll tell you before we pause it, so you can turn off forwarding.
  • Price changes. We give you 30 days’ notice before a price change. Yearly plans keep their price until the 12 months are up.

4. Cancelling and refunds

  • 30-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within 30 days after your line goes live, we refund everything you’ve paid us, setup fee included. A website we built comes down and isn’t handed over in that case.
  • Month to month. Cancel anytime, by email or in the customer portal. Your plan runs to the end of the month you’ve paid for, and there are no charges after that.
  • Yearly, paid monthly. This is a 12-month agreement. If you end it early, you pay back the yearly discount for the months you used (the month-to-month price minus your yearly price, for each month), and the plan ends at the end of that month.
  • Yearly, paid up front. If you end it early, we refund what you paid minus the month-to-month price for each month started. For example, a 300-minute plan paid $3,000 and ended after 4 months gets back $3,000 − 4 × $300 = $1,800.
  • Turning off call forwarding doesn’t cancel your plan.
  • When your plan ends, we release your Brass Lantern line, stop answering, remove ourselves as a manager on your Google profile, and send you your website’s files. Your own phone number and your domain stay yours.

5. Your part

  • Keep your own phone service. You turn forwarding on and off on your own phone.
  • Give us accurate hours, services, towns, prices you’re happy to share and what counts as urgent, and tell us when they change.
  • You’re responsible for your work, your prices, your licenses, and how you respond to the calls and messages we pass along.

6. Text messages

  • Brass Lantern Automations sends call-alert texts to the owners of the trade businesses we serve, about calls our assistant answered for them. They go only to a mobile number the owner opts in, on our order form or our sign-up form.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies with your calls. Reply STOP to stop them, or HELP for help. Questions: brasslanternautomations@gmail.com.
  • No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

7. AI, recordings and your callers’ information

  • The assistant is an AI. It says so if anyone asks whether it’s a person.
  • Callers hear at the start of the call that it may be recorded.
  • We keep recordings, transcripts and call details with our service providers to run the service and send your reports. We don’t sell your callers’ information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their marketing.
  • When you ask, we delete your callers’ recordings and transcripts.

8. Not an emergency service

  • The assistant isn’t a replacement for 911. For a gas smell, it tells callers to leave and to call 911 and the gas company from outside. For a burning smell, sparks or smoke, it tells them to leave and call 911.
  • Calls, transfers and texts can fail because of phone carriers, outages or a phone that isn’t answered. We fix problems quickly when we learn of them, but we can’t promise every call connects.

9. What belongs to whom

  • Your phone number, your domain, your Google profile and the content you give us stay yours. You can remove us from your Google profile at any time.
  • The Brass Lantern line, the assistant’s setup and our tools stay ours.

10. Limits and changes

  • Our total liability for anything related to these terms is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Neither side is liable for lost profits or indirect damages.
  • We give you 30 days’ notice by email before these terms change. If you don’t agree to a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.

11. General

  • Tennessee law governs these terms.
  • Notices go by email to the address on your order form, or to Brass Lantern at brasslanternautomations@gmail.com. Our mailing address is 1130 Ogletown Rd, Suite 2, #1862, Newark, DE 19711.
